Mental Illness & Poverty

In this class, Restoration Counseling's Brian Fidler examines the  the poor's experience with disproportionate levels of mental health problems ranging from depression and anxiety to schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. 
The class covers:
  • Identifying poverty and mental illness challenges
  • Briefly examining major mental health disorders
  • Exploring a tiered approach to evaluation and intervention

Throughout the course, Brian answers the following:
  • What are the needs we see within poverty and mental health? 
  • What are some things you can do amongst those you serve? 


This session is a wonderful resource for anyone working in poverty alleviation – regardless of their faith or occupation – who wants to effectively serve clients with mental illness.

MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR

Brian Fidler
LPC, LMFT, NCC

Dr. Brian Fidler is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a Licensed Marital & Family Therapist (LMFT), a National Certified Counselor (NCC), a Certified EFT Therapist (Emotionally-Focused Therapy), a teacher and speaker. Dr. Fidler has extensive training and experience in Emotionally-Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT), Emotionally-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), and Emotionally-Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT). Additionally, Dr. Fidler is an EFT Supervisor-in-Training.

Providing support and practical feedback, Dr. Fidler helps clients effectively address personal life challenges. He offers a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, Dr. Fidler works with each individual, couple, and family to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.
Dr. Fidler holds a Master’s degree in Counseling and Marriage and Family Therapy from John Brown University, and a doctorate in Counseling Education and Supervision from Regent University. In addition, Dr. Fidler serves as an adjunct professor at John Brown University’s Graduate Counseling Program.
